A Four-Session Illinois Administrator Academy
(Developed with Anne Conzemius, creator of SMART Goals and co-author of The Handbook for SMART School Teams)
Course Description:
Teaching effectiveness, Common Core Curriculum, student data and school improvement can no longer live in isolated silos of leadership work. The academy provides the school improvement structure, process, and tools needed to integrate teaching effectiveness, curriculum, and student learning priorities into one, systematic improvement approach. These integrated sessions are designed for school-based teams that include administrators and teacher leaders. For maximum benefit, the initial two days are scheduled back-to-back during the summer and are followed by one session in the fall and a final day in late winter.
- Learn how to determine your school’s greatest area of need (GAN) using the Framework for Teaching Clusters and student data
- Develop SMART goals and aligned targets that integrate teaching effectiveness and student achievement needs
- Engage in developing and implementing a SMART improvement process that uses multiple data sources including teaching practice, student learning and stakeholders’ perceptions
- Gain a variety of templates and protocols to accelerate school and team-level improvement approaches
- Experience ongoing coaching support that maximizes leadership skills for high-leverage school improvement
Session Length: 4 days
